Science Extension - Kaitlin, Joseph and Cole

The science class that Mrs Jentson and Mrs Bush organised for a few schools was  really fun. Some people might find science boring, but I found it really interesting. I've learnt that there are four chambers in your heart. The valves in your heart are like doors, but the blood only flows one way. The valves open and shut 80 times a minute. I thought the science class was awesome.

As Cole said, the science extension was the best I've ever been to. I have learnt so much in such a fun way. They showed you what they were doing and not with fake things- they were real. My favourite part was when they dissected the sheep heart. Did you know that all mammals have a four chamber heart? All reptiles have a three chamber heart, but the crocodile is the only reptile with a four chamber heart. All fish have a two chamber heart. I would love to go to another science extension class.

Science Fair

Congratulations Cole Bava. An amazing result. Cole won the best primary entry as well as winning the best overall project for dental hygiene, that means he won over intermediate and high school students. A photo will be posted soon of his trophies. Have a look in the office at his project. Special mention to Joseph Burt who won silver with his solar powered oven.

Modifications - The Slideshow Extravaganza!

The Rangi Syndicate have been learning about Modifications over the term.
To end the topic, Room 13 students hosted and presented a slideshow extravaganza.
  Here, Cole is showing how musical devices have changed over time.  Some of the adults in the audience felt old!

Room 7 and Waimata, you were an excellent audience.  You listened and paid attention. 

The adults were interested too.   Hang On!!!!!  I think I can see someone asleep in the front row.  

Mrs Simmons is dressed up for the Sports day,  we hope!

I want to be a fish.

o        A number of things must be taken into consideration when you are deciding what kind or kinds of fish are right for you. Saltwater and freshwater fish may both be kept as pets; freshwater fish are easier to care for while saltwater fish are available in a greater variety (and are often more expensive). You should also consider which fish are compatible with each other, how big they will grow, and how much care and maintenance they require.

Rubber Band Ball

Look what Rain showed the class today.

• Over 1000 rubber bands
• Her Uncle Jason made it.
• The rubber band ball has a tiny piece of paper in the middle of it.
• You start off by tying a knot around a small piece of paper, then you just keep adding rubber bands.

GLOOP Disaster

OH No!   what went wrong?
This reading group enjoyed the article about how to make gloop.  So we went ahead to make our own, but gloop failure - any gloop tips out there people?  Feel free to post a comment.
